A&A Recycling site shredding five times more wood with Pronar 2.1010
Background
A&A Recycling Services Limited operates facilities in the Midlands and is part of the wider A.W. Jenkinson Group.
A&A Recycling processes wood waste from a variety of industries, including waste management companies, civic amenity centres, and commercial sectors.
Operations are centred on processing waste wood into products for the panel board and biomass fuel sectors. End products are distributed to major energy suppliers and used to heat hundreds of thousands of homes across the UK.
Introducing the strength and capability of Pronar
After scouring the market for a new shredder, A&A Recycling’s General Manager Lee Hill, contacted Jason Purllant who introduced him to the Pronar range. After discussing the site’s requirements, it was decided that the slow-speed twin shaft 2.1010 shredder ticked all the boxes.
Lee was impressed with the Pronar 2.1010’s capability to pre-crush metal-contaminated wood, which the other machine struggled with. Workers onsite also sang Pronar’s praises for being robust, reliable and easy to use.
After a successful demo, A&A Recycling’s 2.1010 was installed and full onsite training provided to ensure all operators were fully up-to-speed on how to use the shredder.
Producing instant benefits
The Pronar 2.1010 delivered instant improvements for A&A Recycling. As well as being able to manage contaminated wood, raw material is also reduced in size (300mm) to go through the high-speed shredder to produce biomass-quality chips.
This product produced by the 2.1010 is much denser than its raw form – thereby condensing piles of wood and creating space onsite for more deliveries.
Being able to produce more means A&A Recycling can sell more to nationwide distributors and increase overall profitability from this income stream.
The 2.1010 is so efficient, it delivers the same throughput of a high-speed shredder and is proving to be a vital element of this slick operation – and operates between 8-10 hours a day. In fact, it’s increased the site’s pre-crush shredding rate from 1,400 to 5,000-6,000 tonnes every week.
What A&A Recycling said
Lee Hill, General Manager at A&A Recycling’s Coventry site, said: “We could not be happier with our Pronar 2.1010. We are such a busy site and demand is always increasing due to the growing recycling sector and renewable energy market. Without this machine running, our process can grind to a halt, so it is vital we have a robust and reliable shredder that will not let us down.
“Another huge selling point for us is the back-up and service that Global Machinery Solutions provides. Downtime is very costly, but knowing we have Global’s team on-hand if needed, is massively reassuring – if anything it is as important as the machine itself.
“We are delighted with our Pronar 2.1010 and so impressed at how much it has improved our pre-shredding process. I cannot imagine site life without it now!”
What Global Machinery Solutions said
Jason Purllant, Global Machinery Solutions’ Recycling Sales Manager, said: “Shredding wood is not just about shredding waste – it is about repurposing a natural material to produce energy, heat homes and supply sustainable wood-based products.
“It is a complex process and machines, such as the Pronar 2.1010 are fundamental to ensure its smooth running. I am delighted to be working with A&A Recycling and looking forward to supporting their operations and development through our machines and support.”
